So yes, we bought the rings which were beautiful! Not long after we returned my husband's ring had a chip in the opal. I went to use the restroom and when I came out, he had chosen a ring he wanted which I was totally excited because he never wants to buy jewelry for himself. I love jewelry, but was not looking to buy any new pieces.that was until I saw the beautiful opals haha! When my husband came out of the restroom, I had already picked out the ring I wanted which he already knew was going to happen (smiling big). Our guide advised not to buy jewelry from the street vendors as he would take us to The Opal Mine. My husband and I went to Nuevo Vallarta in April 2017 for an All Inclusive stay at the Marival Residences Luxury Resort which was fantastic! One of the excursions included on our trip was a walking tour of downtown which was great by the way. But if you ever buy here, you will be very sorry, upset, disappointed, heartbroken, and foolish for trusting their sales people. Everything looked good when you are in their store, with lighting and free frozen margaritas. See the pictures below of the fake ring, and the repaired ring with poor craftsmanship. I still need to have the other ring appraised. You will overpay and just be very disappointed and heart broken in the end. a genuine solid black opal with diamonds in solid white gold. It is a huge loss that should have not happened if we were sold what the Opal Mine claimed. My ring was stolen some time in transit to the Opal Mine. By the time my husband and I were back home in Hawaii, all We got were messages of sympathy, and how they are as sad as I am, and that this has not happened before. I have been emailing them of my disappointment and anger towards the fact. I kept missing Gustavo’s calls because we were on another cruise. One said that they finally received my package, and a second message saying that there is no ring in the box. Gustavo didn’t receive the package (the ring, & chocolates & coffee from Hawaii) until end of May 2018. But because I am a person that gives people the benefit of the doubt, I finally, mailed it back on March 2018. ![]() I originally hesitated to mail it back, because of all the disappointment I have experienced. When I contacted Gustavo again to tell him that the ring was not acceptable, he told me to send it back, and that he will not stop until I am 100% satisfied. It looked like it had missing gold, like they didn’t bother making the setting look even, it looked like it was chipped. until I inspected it, and noticed that the craftsmanship was not up to the same standard it had. By the time I received the ring in december 2017, I thought that it looked ok. ![]() just write a good review on TripAdvisor, and everyone will be happy. I complained, and told them that I refuse to pay extra, because they sold me a fake black opal to begin with. I was told that it will cost over anothe $230.00 for the upgrade. They told me that they will attach a very nice black opal, bigger than what it had. When they verified it to be a legitimate purchase and claim, Gustavo asked me to mail it back so they can repair it. I contacted Opal Mine, and Gustavo, the manager, requested to see the receipts and the image of the ring. The glass looked like it only had tinsel or glitter, and when you put it back on the black piece, it appeared like an opal. When I inspected the opal, it looked very much like clear glass or plastic, and I can’t find any opal attached to the black backing. I was happy with it, up until October 2017, when a glass peice popped off the ring. My husband had paid $4,500.00 for what they told us was a genuine solid black opal with diamonds on white gold. We purchased a black opal ring back in March of 2017, during a Mexican cruise through the NCL.
